Jump to: navigation, search

There are a few direct cross-border buses that run daily between cities in Guatemala and the border states of Chiapas and Quintana Roo in México. Otherwise, there are plenty of buses running on either side of the border to the crossings at La Mesilla/Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Ciudad Tecún Umán/Ciudad Hidalgo, and El Carmen/Talismán.

Guatemala City and Tapachula, Chiapas

All three lines run direct cross-border buses daily via the highway to Escuintla and Mazatenango.

Buses run daily between Flores and Bethel (4hrs), on the Guatemalan side of the river. From Bethel take the 45-minute boat ride from Bethel to Frontera Corozal. An alternative is to take a bus from Bethel to La Técnica and then take the shorter five-minute boat trip to Frontera Corozal (6hrs). From Frontera Corozal, about a dozen vans run daily to Palenque (3 hrs). Travel agencies in Palenque and Flores will also book this bus and boat trip for a small premium.
