Private Guides — México
Private guides can be useful for travelers with limited or no Spanish, especially when venturing off the well-trodden tourist paths or wanting a lot of flexibility in itineraries , which tours normally do not allow. They usually charge more than tours. The costs, however, can be shared among several travelers. When discussing price, which is usually by the hour, make sure it includes the cost of transportation.
Private guides are listed in this guide in the places they're based in. Word of mouth is good way to find a guide. Try talking to other travelers, asking at the front desk, checking with Spanish language school, or visiting the tourist information office, if there's one in town.
