Safety - Cancún, Quintana Roo
This Caribbean beach resort draws petty thieves from all over the country itching to relieve the more than 3 million potential marks who visit there annually of their belonging. The most common crimes involve some form of theft such as pickpocketings, muggings, or hotel room burglaries. Another ploy is for thieves to grab unattended belongings on the beach while bathers are in the water. Never leave anything of value unattended on the beach. Although rare, there have been reports of sexual assaults in the evenings and early mornings hours. Persons walking alone at night after having too much drink are most at risk.
